Aditya Kumar
I am an Assistant Professor in the Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials group in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech.
My main area of research is mechanics and physics of soft materials. Specifically, I am interested in the development of mathematical theories and their computational implementation to study fundamental problems in soft matter systems. Recent areas of interest include fracture in elastomers, and 3D printing of polymer composites.
I got my Bachelor's degree from IIT Delhi.
I received my PhD from Illinois, where I was advised by Oscar Lopez-Pamies.
Afterwards, I was a postdoctoral researcher in Aerospace Engineering at Illinois, advised by Philippe Geubelle.
Current Research Areas:
Fracture in soft to ultra soft materials, including biological tissues
Unified theory for nucleation and propagation of fracture
3D printing and other growth problems in viscoelastic materials
Thermo-chemo-mechanics of frontal polymerization
